Giorgos Pitsilis, Governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, and representatives of HELLENIQ ENERGY (Hellenic Petroleum) and MOTOR OIL HELLAS signed a Memorandum of Cooperation today. The goal is to make it easier for the public and private sectors to work together to handle problems with managing seized energy products, as stated in Article 57 of Law 5100/2024.

In particular, the Memorandum of Cooperation agrees on behalf of the companies:

  • Transport of the confiscated Recyclable Energy Products at their own care and expense,
  • The recovered products will be stored at their own expense.
  • comply with the necessary security measures their reprocessing within a short period of time, on payment to the ADPE of a reasonable price and the relevant duties and taxes.

This cooperation achieves:

  • Faster, safer and more efficient management of seized flammable energy products, for the benefit of the environment and the economy.
  • Protecting the health and safety of workers and traders, thanks to the immediate removal and storage of combustible and hazardous materials.
  • Benefit for the state budget through cost savings: cost of storage, collection, and transportation, which these businesses now bear entirely, destruction, as the product is recycled.

The Governor of the Independent Public Revenue Authority, George Pitsilis, said: "With dedication and responsibility, we are joining forces and are ready to work together for a common goal: a sustainable, transparent and fair energy market that ensures both the public interest and the protection of society, in the service of which we have put our strengths and vision."
