Primary surplus targets within reach
The Hellenic Fiscal Council (HFC) has completed its assessment of the macroeconomic projections of the Draft Budgetary Plan 2025 (DBP) submitted to the European Commission today, 15-10-2024.
Growth at 2.3% in 2024
The Parliament Budget Office revised forecast for the Greek economy's annual growth rate for 2024 stands at 2.3%, slightly lower than the previous estimate of 2.5%, as published in the June report.
Growth of 2.3%, inflation of 2.1% and a primary surplus of 2.5%
The draft state budget for the year 2025 was submitted today for discussion at Parliament's Standing Committee on Economic Affairs.
Budget consistent with fiscal stability objectives
The Hellenic Fiscal Council (HFC) adopts the macroeconomic projections of the preliminary draft state budget 2025, while, as it announced, it finds that the fiscal targets are in full compliance with the new European economic governance framework.
Tax revenues €29.2 billion in the half-year
The state budget recorded a primary surplus of €2,905 million against a target surplus of €1,204 million and a surplus of €2,116 million for the same period in 2023, according to the final figures announced by the Ministry of Economy and Finance for the period January–June 2024.
Cash primary surplus at €2.952 billion in the first half of the year
Data from the Bank of Greece shows that the cash primary surplus for the six-month period (January–June 2024) was €2.952 billion.
Primary surplus at €2.9 billion in the first half of the year
Provisional data released by the Ministry of Finance shows that tax revenues increased by €1.336 billion, or 4.8%, against the target included in the 2024 Budget report, to €29.276 billion.
Primary surplus of €3.15 billion in the five-month period January-May
During the January–May period, a primary surplus of €3.152 billion was recorded, compared to a target of €802 million and €2.300 billion for the same period in 2023.

The primary surplus amounted to €5.826 billion, exceeding the target of €3.771 billion for the primary surplus and a primary deficit of €1.091 billion for the same period in 2022.
