Third interest rate cut of 0.25% in 2024
The European Central Bank confirmed analysts' and markets' forecasts by cutting interest rates for the third time and for the second consecutive time by 25 basis points.

In the period January–September 2024, the cash result of the central government showed a surplus of €1,870 million, compared to a deficit of €494 million in the corresponding period of 2023.

Eurozone inflation was slightly lower in September than initially estimated, according to final data released today by Eurostat.

€1 billion disbursed to Greece from 4th payment request
The European Commission has today disbursed €1 billion from the Recovery Fund to Greece under the grants strand, following the successful completion of the 4th payment request submitted in early June.

Primary surplus of €8.74 billion in 9 months
The budget shows a primary surplus of €8.74 billion for the January-September period, against a target of a primary surplus of €5.29 billion and a primary surplus of €5.98 billion for the same period in 2023.

Gas consumption increased by 25.1% in 9 months
Natural gas consumption in Greece rose by 25.16% in the first nine months of the year, reaching 47.65 terawatt hours (TWh) from 38.07 TWh in the corresponding period for 2023.
